With thousands of cleaners out there to choose from and new cleaners flooding into the industry on a daily basis, what sets me apart and makes me different to others? Cleaning is often thought of as the lowest rung on the work ladder. A job that 'anyone' can do. I disagree. Sure, it's something that everyone does day-in, day-out, but some people can't boil an egg while others have Michelin Stars. Cleaning is a skill and one that I have worked to hone for over two decades, both personally and professionally. Sticking to a few core principles that are the foundation blocks of my business, has really allowed it to grow.
There's so many cleaning companies out there and since 2020, so many more have popped up, making grandiose claims after little to no experience in the field. I have seen other cleaners try to imitate and replicate what I do. It may look easy on the surface but people only see the tip of the iceberg - there is so much more to running a successful cleaning business that people don't see. So if you're going to spend your hard-earned money having a professional clean your home, make sure they're actually a professional and not just a random neighbour with a bottle of bleach and a dirty old mop. Yes, anybody can be a cleaner, but that doesn't mean everyone should be. So with that being said, why choose me?
Cleaning with a conscience - I always try to work in a way that is as ethical, sustainable and kind to the environment as much as I possibly can and regularly research ways that I can 'do better' as a business. Whether it's using handmade products, reusing plastic packaging, reducing water and chemical waste, using eco friendly refillable products or walking to client's homes where possible, I am always looking for ways to reduce my carbon footprint. I not only take great pride in my work but also the products that I use. I use carefully selected, high quality professional products to ensure the best cleaning results that are non-toxic, cruelty free, naturally based, vegan and environmentally friendly where possible. Some of the premium brands that I work with include Delphis, Method and Purdy & Figg. I want to educate and show people that vegan, cruelty free cleaning doesn't mean sage burning and terrible standards, it means a 5* service without harm. I don't believe that eco friendly cleaning is a 'niche', I just say it's an added bonus to my excellent standard of cleaning!
Recommended - I personally have nothing but 5* reviews and comments from my clients saying how happy they are, and I fully intend to keep it that way! I am working in your home and to me, it's really important you like your cleaner as a person. I know I have the cleaning down, but I also really pride myself in knowing all of my clients are comfortable and happy to put their trust in me.
Bespoke service - I understand that every space is unique so I provide a completely customisable cleaning and housekeeping service, specifically tailored to you and your home. Every single client is treated as an individual, each with their own needs and requirements. Whether you want a deep clean of your bathroom, your kitchen cupboards cleaned and reorganised, windows cleaned, beds made or help with decluttering a home office, I will work with you to create a cleaning routine that works for you and your home - not somebody else's.
Independent - I am not a big company with lots of staff. I work independently which means unlike some agencies and franchises who routinely send different cleaners into client's homes, I am able to guarantee a dedicated and consistent boutique service to my clients with a familiar face that you can get to know and trust. I prefer to work solo as although I've met some fantastic, incredible cleaners in my time, I have met many others who just don't have the same passion. Working on my own ensures a personal service and that I really get to know both your home and your pets. Because I own the business, you know you are getting a cleaner who truly cares.
Fully insured, DBS checked and registered with HMRC - I have never had to use my insurance but that's exactly what it's there for - insurance. Your home is your safe space and your sanctuary. Having trustworthy fully insured, checked and registered tradespeople is important for your peace of mind as well as your safety.
Pet friendly - Other than the fact I have a Dogue de Bordeaux meaning that I am familiar with the ongoing war against fur and drool, I genuinely love and care for your animals and am horse and country lifestyle friendly. If I have to creep through the door because of your house cat or have to check every single ingredient in my products because your dog suffers from allergies, I understand. I will always work in a way that keeps your pets safe. Nearly half of the households in the UK have a pet, but what we use every day to keep our homes clean can do lasting harm to them without us knowing. Many ingredients in common household cleaners are toxic to animals and can seriously affect them in later life. I adore animals and make sure to research every single ingredient in the products I use to make sure they are pet-safe.
Knowledgeable and passionate - Some people hate cleaning, I don't. My business isn't just a money maker, it's my baby and my passion. I genuinely love my work and take a hell of a lot of pride in each and every job I undertake. To me, cleaning is both an art and a science and I take it seriously. Bringing a fresh and modern perspective to a traditional service, I am always learning new techniques, researching and testing innovative new products/tools, creating new formulas, adding to my services and developing new strategies to master my skills and be a better cleaner than I was yesterday. I even incorporate elements of aromatherapy and feng shui into my cleaning. My aim always is to bring luxurious, hotel-standard cleaning into the homes of all of my clients. This is not just a "whatever, let's give this a go" job for me, I truly enjoy my work and it shows.
Professional tools, products and equipment - As well as premium, eco friendly, vegan certified professional cleaning products that are safe for septic tanks, I use top of the range Dyson Animal HEPA microfilter vacuum cleaners which work on all floor types (fully cleaned and serviced after every clean), a full range of deep cleaning vacuum tools, flat mops with clean mop heads and dozens of professional grade cleaning cloths, as well as dusters, sponges, steamers, erasers, brushes, grout tools, crevice tools, lint rollers and cleaning blades. I also have a few gadgets you may not expect like rubber brooms, screwdrivers and innovative nano-silver cloths. Every item in my kit has been hand-selected, tried and tested by myself to give an expert finish. I am constantly adding to my kit and I use the best suppliers and sources to provide an outstanding quality of care for my clients and my own safety at all times. I am trained to look out for certain things such as natural stone to ensure I know which products can be used safely and where. There are also times when I will use certain products around pets or family members with allergies. I can even use luxury cleaning products from Diptyque and Humdakin on request.
Judgment free - I am here to help, not to judge. My house isn't perfect. I too am stuck in the loop of trying to find the time to clean, see my loved ones, cook dinner, go to work, go to sleep, try and exercise, somehow have hobbies, do the weekly shop... Add kids, pets or health issues into the mix and how can one person do it all? You can't. And I know that. So I won't ever judge you on your journey to a clean and healthy home. I am welcoming and inclusive to all potential clients, regardless of age, ability, gender, sexuality, nationality, race or religion.
Empathetic, kind and supportive - I build bonds with my clients and always help out further where I can, with little things that make a huge difference. I've been known to walk dogs when clients have been ill, assist my older clients with daily living tasks and bring washing in when it's started to rain. I always keep my eyes open for ways I can help my clients and every job I take on is handled with compassion, understanding and discretion. I am purely here to help take away a stress and burden with my services and rest assured, there is no need to ever feel embarrassed or ashamed. I am honoured that you are choosing to let me into your home - your sanctuary, and I will treat you and your belongings with respect. All my services are completely confidential. Some clients also enjoy the companionship that having a regular cleaner can bring. With this in mind, I am always happy to have a cup of tea and a friendly chat with clients who appreciate some company or need someone to talk to when life gets hard (in my own time at no extra charge).
Giving back to the community - This is very important to me. Whether it's through the donation of money, much needed items, fundraising or raising awareness of current campaigns, my business helps to support several local charities including RSPCA East Norfolk, Break, Priscilla Bacon Hospice, North Norfolk Foodbank and East Anglian Air Ambulance. I also support local shops and artisans by shopping locally for as many of my supplies as possible.
Experienced - Of course I am going to be a better cleaner than somebody who woke up yesterday and decided to give it a shot. But it isn't just cleaning. It's business. It's showing up every single day without fail and with no excuses. It's time management, organisation, operations, administration, social media, bookkeeping, customer service, marketing, meetings, training and legislation. It's using my initiative, working with honesty and integrity, being punctual and reliable, understanding the importance of discretion and making sure that my clients feel at ease with me in their homes. In short - it's providing a professional, quality service.
Trained and qualified - Unlike many cleaners, I am actually qualified to do the job. I work very hard to be the best I can be and as well as qualifications in business and customer service, I hold a British Cleaning Certification Award (BCCA) qualification - the 'gold standard' professional diploma in cleaning education. I have also completed numerous other cleaning and housekeeping courses from the world's largest and most comprehensive training provider for independent house cleaners, covering everything from carpet care to floristry. I am also COSHH trained and first aid/CPR trained. I am also an affiliate member of several trade associations giving me access to exemplary training, product guidance and any recent changes to industry standards and health and safety guidelines. It ensures that I am up to date and knowledgeable when cleaning within your home or business. I set the bar high and then aim higher.
Outstanding customer service - With a background in luxury retail, I bring my customer service skills to my cleaning business. From clear communication and 24/7 availability to ensure I am meeting my client's needs and requirements, to going the extra mile with special touches and thoughtful gifts, I pride myself on the service I provide. I care for every house as if it was my own and I will always give you the standards that I would expect and want from my own cleaner. I value your time so you can count on me to be punctual, efficient and dedicated to delivering a spotless clean every time.
A cleaner earning a real living wage - A lot of cleaning companies use exploitative, unethical labour. I am genuinely self employed by choice, which means that I want to do my job and I get paid a real and fair living wage equivalent for my time (both cleaning and administrative work). Everything else goes back into the business! Other than not actively being exploited, this means I am better at my job. In the climate of 'act your wage', anybody being paid unfairly for their job isn't exactly going to put in maximum effort. I do because I respect myself, my clients and my work. I freely admit that I am not the cheapest cleaner in the area. My rates reflect my commitment to quality, ethical working practices and investment in comprehensive training and premium professional products, setting myself apart in an unregulated industry. And I also appreciate that when my clients pay me, that's money they've worked incredibly hard for and so I will work hard for it too. My clients deserve the best service I can give, for the human time and effort that it's worth.
Personable - I am polite, well mannered, easy to get along with, maintain a clean, tidy and hygienic professional appearance and am a non-smoker. I pride myself on running a super friendly and approachable business. I am human and I treat everybody with kindness and respect and only hope to have the same in return! I am very lucky to be able to choose my clients and I appreciate and have a great relationship with each and every one. I just want to earn a living and not exploit anybody else to do it.
Industry trainer and influencer - As well as working as an independent cleaner and housekeeper myself, I also help to train, mentor and inspire other independent house cleaners, both in the UK and abroad. As well as creating and maintaining a website full of training resources for independent house cleaners, I also run a free support group offering coaching, help and advice to those just starting out in the industry, as well as more experienced professionals looking to develop their business. I am also in the process of creating a series of digital products to help other cleaners including eBooks and online courses.
