What Is A 'Pet Friendly' Cleaner?

Updated: Nov 24

Here is my client's lovely dog Pip to help me explain.....

Pets and cleaning are two of my passions and definitely my most expensive hobbies! But the two combined make a paradox because being clean with pets is near impossible. Having a pet means your home is often more in need of cleaning than you would like, but at the same time, a lot of people worry that having a pet at home will make it difficult to hire a cleaner or housekeeper. In my opinion, this could not be further from the truth. In fact some pet friendly cleaners can actually be the perfect daytime companions for your furry friends, who would otherwise be home alone. But what does 'pet friendly' actually mean? In my case, it means that I know how to approach your pets. I am comfortable and confident around dogs of all sizes and breeds. I am also comfortable working around other pets you may have including cats, birds, insects, fish and reptiles. I understand that I am coming into THEIR home and I will wait for them to come to me. I will do my best to make sure they are happy and not too disturbed or scared by what I am doing. I am very careful with what I am using around the home, especially around their bowls and bedding, or if the floors are wet in an area, I ensure they are not walking on it. If required I can put down fresh water, food or even let them out into a secure garden to do their business if this is something you wish to agree as part of your service. I understand that your pets are another member of the family and I treat them with the respect and love they deserve, and how I would like my own pets to be treated.

As with all relationships, it may take time for your pets to get to know and trust me so I will ask to be properly introduced to your pets first before commencing work. During my initial consultation, it's a great chance to meet your family pets and see what your specific needs and requirements are for them. Other than the fact I have a Dogue de Bordeaux meaning that I am absolutely familiar with the ongoing war against fur and drool (and have won a great many battles), I genuinely love and care for your animals and am horse and country lifestyle friendly. If I have to creep through the door or can't open a window because of your house cat or have to check every single ingredient in my products because your dog suffers from allergies, I understand. I will always work in a way that keeps your pets safe. The products I use are eco-friendly and safe around your pets, but I am also very careful to ensure your pets are not walking on wet floors or that spray fallout isn't anywhere near food or drinking water. If I wouldn't use a product around my fur baby, I won't use it around yours. So many ingredients and chemicals in typical cleaning products are really just terrible for animals and I am absolutely committed to their safety and happiness! I'm also (as you can imagine) an animal hair expert by now so know exactly where to point the hoover to get all that hidden fluff. I understand that pets are very much part of the family too and will work with you to ensure your pets are safe and happy in their own homes.
