FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which areas do you cover?

Broadland Housekeeping is based happily in Stalham, tucked away in North East Norfolk. I work within roughly a 10 mile radius so the quiet villages and market towns that lace around Stalham, including North Walsham and Wroxham. If you're nearby enough that I can reach you without packing a suitcase, you're probably in my area.

Are you an agency?

Absolutely not. No rotating cast of strangers. No subcontractors in branded hoodies taking a gamble on which cupboard the hoover lives in. It's just me - an independent cleaner and housekeeper who works alone, offering a dedicated, consistent service with the same familiar face every visit.

Because every home is its own little ecosystem, I never use a 'one size fits all' routine. Instead, I start with a free consultation - a gentle wander around your home, a chat about what matters to you and a personalised plan tailored to your lifestyle, your surfaces and your priorities.

Do you provide the cleaning products and equipment?

Yes. I bring everything - the eco-friendly, pet safe, professional grade kit I've spent years researching, refining and occasionally raving about. If you have a particular product you'd prefer me to use, that's fine too. Just let me know in advance so I can obtain the correct safety data sheets and make sure everything remains compliant and safe.

Can you help me with anything else besides cleaning?

Yes. Cleaning is my speciality, but housekeeping is my broader craft. I can help with errands, home organisation, tidying, pet care and general household support. Having managed large, prestigious homes, I understand exactly what's required to keep a property running smoothly - whether that's helping with the laundry or ensuring the dog doesn't eat the post again. If you have a larger home or estate and need professional assistance, please get in touch.

Are you insured?

Yes. I hold business and public liability insurance up to £5,000,000 from a cleaning industry specialist (no generic policies here), and every job is fully risk assessed. I'm DBS checked, HMRC registered and a licensed waste carrier - the full, sensible grown-up package.

How often should I have my home professionally cleaned?

Most clients choose weekly, fortnightly or monthly visits, depending on what suits their lifestyle and budget. Regular cleaning keeps your home consistently at its best and allows me to maintain the often forgotten bits - the woodwork, the light fittings, the smudgy corners that quietly judge us all. If you prefer something less frequent, I can sometimes offer seasonal or ad-hoc visits depending on availability. And if your ideal slot isn't open right away, you're welcome to join my waiting list.

How much do you charge?

Every home is different, so prices are bespoke. I offer free, no-obligation home visits where I can assess the work and provide a tailored quote.

My services are priced per job rather than by the hour - quality over clock-watching. You can find more details on my services page.

How long will it take you to clean my house?

It depends entirely on your home and what you need. I don't work to client-set deadlines or attempt to squeeze your clean between three others on the same day. During your consultation, we'll walk through the property together so I can assess the workload and provide a realistic timeframe. I clean one home per day (yours) which means no rushing, no cutting corners and no half-finished bathrooms because I had to dash to the next job.

Will I meet you beforehand?

Yes. Every new client receives an initial consultation at a time that suits you. It's relaxed and unhurried - a chat, a walk-through and a chance to discuss allergies, pets, special requirements and access. You'll also receive a welcome pack with more information about how I work and what to expect.

How do I pay?

You'll receive an invoice at the end of each clean. Most clients pay by bank transfer, but I can arrange alternative options if needed.

Do I need to be home when you arrive?

Only if you want to be. Many clients prefer to be out - it makes things easier and it's always a treat to return to a freshly cleaned home you didn't have to lift a finger for. If you'll be out, I can use a key safe or securely hold your key. All keys and codes are stored confidentially and handled with the utmost care.

Are you okay with dogs?

Yes. I'm a dog owner myself and perfectly at ease with all breeds, shapes and enthusiasm levels. I just ask for a proper introduction before I start so your dog can decide I'm worthy. I also work happily around cats, birds, reptiles and the occasional terrarium of mysterious beetles.

What if I don't want anybody to know I have a cleaner?

That's absolutely fine. I offer a completely discreet service. My car is unmarked, your privacy is non-negotiable and I follow strict data protection and confidentiality processes. Written agreements are provided as standard.

Do you provide one-off cleans?

Yes. I specialise in detailed deep cleans and offer bespoke, one-off packages for bathrooms, kitchens or full house transformations. I can sometimes accommodate end of tenancy or moving-in cleans depending on availability - just ask.

Do you clean holiday lets and Airbnbs?

I don't offer regular commercial changeovers, but I do care for private holiday homes. This can include bed making, laundry, welcome gifts, consumables, maintenance checks and liaising with contractors.

What happens if I want to cancel?

No problem. I don't use long contracts or tie people in. All I ask is at least 24 hours notice so I can offer your slot to another client.

Can I come and work for you?

Thank you - genuinely - for asking. It means a lot when other cleaners recognise and appreciate the work I do. However, the answer is no. Broadland Housekeeping is intentionally, stubbornly, lovingly a one-woman operation. I work strictly solo to keep my business sustainable, my standards high and my service consistent. My clients book me - my methods, my values and my slightly obsessive way of spotting fingerprints on the kettle even when the room is dark. Bringing in staff would change the heart, shape and integrity of what I've built since 2017.

But I truly appreciate the interest and I'm always cheering on fellow cleaners doing brilliant work in their own businesses.

If there's anything I haven't covered, please get in touch - I'm always happy to answer questions.
