Method Cream Custard Multi Surface Cleaner

In my ongoing search for innovative, vegan and eco-friendly cleaning products, I stumbled upon a sponsored post on Facebook (well done Mark Zuckerberg on those algorithms) featuring a limited edition 'Cream Custard' multi-surface cleaner from Method. According to their website, the product was originally an April Fool's joke but was brought into production after overwhelming demand! Method's marketing photos and videos show people using their products on various surfaces, practically bursting with excitement over how effective they are. And honestly, this stuff lives up to the hype. If the brilliant folks at Method know their science, I certainly know my cleaning products. I'll admit, if I had a husband willing to indulge my quirky cleaning obsession and film my reaction the first time I used it, I'd be right there with those ultra-excited people in their videos, and I'm not even a little bit ashamed to admit it.

Without further ado, here's a straightforward breakdown of my thoughts on this product. I do think it's a bit pricey for professional use and I just can't justify using it on everything in a business setting - I'd end up living off beans on toast for the rest of my career (and as much as I love my clients, I'm not willing to make that sacrifice - sorry guys). However, for a regular person who doesn't clean several houses a week, I think it's great value and totally worth the money. As always, the packaging is lovely, coming in the same sleek, recyclable bottle as other Method cleaning sprays. These are the kind of bottles you'd actually want to leave out on the counter, rather than hide away in the cupboard under the sink.

When it comes to fragrance, I'm all about a product that has a fresh, clean scent - after all, my clients not only want their homes to look and feel clean, but to smell clean too. This product is called 'Cream Custard' so I was expecting a sweet, vanilla-like fragrance, but it actually has more of a citrusy, slightly lemony scent. It's pleasant, but not exactly what I anticipated, and I personally think there are other Method scents that smell better. Like their other products, it leaves a nice, lingering fragrance. It pairs really well with Method's 'Wild Rhubarb' too. While it's a multi-purpose cleaner, I'd say the scent is best suited for kitchens, which is where I've been testing it.

When it comes to cleaning, I'd say this product is best suited as an everyday cleaner for staying on top of daily cleaning, rather than tackling heavy-duty messes. It cuts through grease and grime well, but it does take a bit more effort to handle stubborn, built-up residue. A little goes a long way, and it doesn't leave any sticky residue behind. I've always appreciated the design of Method's spray bottles - they're ergonomic, have a sturdy square base so they don't topple over and spray a nice fine mist for even coverage (unlike some bottles that just dump a ton of liquid in one spot!) However, I did find that the finish can be a little streaky on some surfaces, so I'd recommend buffing for a more polished, professional look. It's marketed as a multi-surface cleaner and works great on countertops and tiles. It also does a solid job on stainless steel (though honestly, I think whoever named it 'stainless' must be chuckling from beyond, because that stuff is a nightmare to clean!) Method also mentions it's safe for wood, though it's not a polish. It cleans your wood, but don't expect it to leave a glossy shine (and I do love a good shine!)

Would I recommend it? Yes I would. If you're looking for a general purpose product for keeping on top of everyday cleaning and hygiene then it's definitely one to consider (although it's limited edition so if you're thinking of trying it - be quick!)
