Method Cream Custard Multi Surface Cleaner

In my never-ending quest to find innovative, vegan and eco-friendly cleaning products to use, I came across a sponsored post on Facebook (well done Mark Zuckerberg with the algorithms there) showing a new limited edition 'Cream Custard' multi surface cleaner from Method. According to the Method website, the product was initially an April Fool but was put into production by popular request! Method's marketing photos and videos show a multitude of folks using their products on a variety of surfaces, practically squealing with joy about how good they are. And this stuff is good. If the clever folks at Method know their science then I know my cleaning. I have to say that honestly, if I had a husband who was willing to indulge me in my weird cleaning obsession and film my reaction when I first used it, I would be joining the ultra-excited people on one of those videos and I am not ashamed to admit it.

So without further ado, here is a no-frills breakdown of my thoughts on this product. I do think it's a little on the expensive side for use professionally. I just cannot justify using it on everything in a professional capacity or I'd have to eat beans on toast for the rest of my career. I love my client's but not enough to sacrifice food for (sorry guys). But for a normal person who doesn't clean lots of houses each week, I think it's good value and worth the money. As usual the packaging is lovely and comes in the same attractive, recyclable bottle as other Method cleaning sprays. They are the sort of bottles you'd be happy to leave out rather than stuffing in the cupboard under the kitchen sink.

In terms of smell, I love a product with a good fresh scent, as my client's not only want their homes to feel and look clean but also to smell clean. This product is called 'Cream Custard' so I was expecting a sweet vanilla scent, but it almost has a citrussy, slightly lemony smell to it. It's nice but not not what I was expecting and there are other Method scents which smell nicer in my opinion. As with other Method products, it leaves a pleasant, lingering after scent. And it pairs very well with Method's 'Wild Rhubarb'. It's a multi purpose cleaner but I would say the scent is best suited to kitchens (which is where I have been testing it).

In terms of cleaning, I would say it's best suited as an every day cleaner for keeping on top of daily cleaning rather than as a heavier duty product. It cuts through grease and grime but does require some effort to tackle heavier, crusty build-up. A little goes a long way and it didn't leave behind any sticky residue either. I have always liked the design of Method's spray bottles. They are ergonomic, have a nice square base so they don't topple over and they give out a nice, fine mist of product with good coverage (unlike some bottles which just spray a lot of liquid in one place!) I found that the finish can be a little streaky on some surfaces though so I would recommend buffing for a professional looking finish. It's described as a multi surface cleaner and works well on worktops and tiles. It also worked nicely on stainless steel (I quite honestly think whoever named it 'stainless' must be laughing in their grave right now because that stuff is a nightmare to clean). Method also state that you can use it on wood although it's not a polish. Yes it does clean your wood but it doesn't give a glossy shine (and I love a shine).

Would I recommend it? Yes I would. If you're looking for a general purpose product for keeping on top of everyday cleaning and hygiene then it's definitely one to consider (although it's limited edition so if you're thinking of trying it - be quick!)
