As well as physical benefits, studies have shown that a neat, well organised and clean home can have a positive effect on your mental health and general wellbeing. There is a powerful psychology behind cleanliness, which suggests clutter and mess has a direct impact on your mood. A dirty, disorganised and untidy home can impact your productivity and ability to focus, leading to feelings of irritability and distraction. You can start to feel stuck in a rut. A clean and organised home can help to reduce stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms and reduce fatigue. It can promote relaxation, productivity and a positive mindset. I strongly believe our spaces are vital to our happiness and wellbeing. Creating calm is about making space for stillness and for nurturing and supporting yourself, especially in today's fast-paced world. When we clean and organise our physical space, we also clear our minds, creating a sense of order and control in our environment.
Cleaning alleviates the stress associated with an untidy home, plus the physical act of cleaning works up a sweat and releases feel good endorphins.
