Cleaning in hot weather is hard, even for a professional. The temperature makes you sweat, lose energy and feel exhausted quicker and it certainly makes every task look more difficult and tiresome than it really is. So here are some tips to help you stay cool when cleaning in the heat.....
Get someone else to do it for you - The best tip in my opinion is to hire me to do it for you. But if that's not an option.....
Choose the right time - One of the best ways to avoid the heat is to clean when the temperature is relatively mild and cool. Early mornings are the best because you have the energy and the motivation to clean. You need to use the time before noon when the temperature will start to soar.
Divide the chores - Try not to do everything at once because you might tax your body too much and this will have an impact on your health. Instead you should try to tackle one physically intensive task and a few lighter cleaning chores at one time. You can set up a cycle of chores so no area of your home is neglected.
Ask for help - You should ask your family members to do their bit so the burden of cleaning the entire property doesn't fall on your shoulders. House cleaning is time consuming and hard work so it's a good idea to ask for help. Get your little ones involved with the smaller tasks.
Fluids and breaks - Take lots of breaks and pit stops if needed and don't forget to rehydrate and keep your energy levels up by drinking lots of water. Wearing cotton clothing can also help to keep you cool.
Close the curtains - I always try to keep my curtains and windows shut on the sunny side of my house and rotate them as the sun moves, as it really does help to keep the house cool. It feels like a contradiction in itself but it keeps the room cool if it's hotter outside than in.
